  • A boss represents the primary adversaries which aim to defeat the raiders.
  • A boss may not be attacked or targeted by opponents while a permanent with the miniboss supertype is on the battlefield.
  • A boss may attack as if they are creatures, but they cannot block.
  • A boss loses the game when they have one-half (½) their life total in poison counters.
  • A boss will generate mana as needed to pay costs such as casting spells.
    • A boss will cast cards for their reduced costs if no other actions are required. Convoke, which requires creatures to be tapped for the cost reduction, is an example of when a boss would not use the reduced mana cost.
  • A boss has a hand and it is a hidden zone to all other players.
  • A boss has a maximum hand size of seven (7).
    • When discarding cards, a boss chooses cards at random.
